I am trying to upgrade my app, from Django v1.6.11 to v1.7.8. I am following the instructions to upgrade from South but get again and again the same error. More precisely:

This seems to me a django-modeltranslation issue. I have checked the dependencies at their website and I'm using a correct setup: django 1.7.11, python 2.7.5, django-modeltranslation 0.8.

Note: if I uninstall South from my virtualenv, I'm still getting the same error.
I have tried to solve from my project all deprecation warnings I have been able to find. But anyhow, the migration error is still there. Can anyone see any possible solution? Thanks :-)

UPDATE: after dukeofweatherby's suggestion I've removed the call to admin.autodiscover() from my urls.py. Anyhow, after this I'm still getting the same error.
UPDATE 2: from translation import *
before importing TranslationAdmin solved the issue
Encountering exactly this problem, I was able to resolve it by removing
admin.autodiscover()
Django 1.7 automatically discovers the admin files in the new app loading functionality and I guess having this messes with the loading order.
