How can I get a unified git diff in Visual Studio Code?
VS Code has a nice built-in Git interface, but it defaults to side-by-side file comparison/diff. Is there a way to switch to unified colored mode?

The official view is a side by side one
But the VSCode Tips page mentions
Inline view
Toggle inline view by clicking more button in the top right.

As of vscode 1.105.1 (2025 Q4), "
Inline View" is present in the "..." menu when opening a diff view for a single file.
But it is not present when "Open Changes" for a whole commit.
By the way, enabling "
Inline View" for a singe file works for the diff for the whole commit.
