I got the following error while trying to install pyaudio using pip3 in ubuntu 16.04:

This should help
sudo apt-get install portaudio19-dev python-pyaudio python3-pyaudio

On Ubuntu 20.04 you have to use:
sudo apt install portaudio19-dev python3-pyaudio
