Font awesome background color is overflown

I want to set background color for a fontawesome icon :

.vert {
      background: springgreen;
    }
...
return '<i class="fa fa-circle-thin vert"></i>';

At runtime I get this :

So how to fill just the interior of the circle ?

  • You can use stacked icons.

  color: springgreen;
