Is autoimport normal in TypeScript?


My TypeScript is up to date. I have two typescripts named first.ts and second.ts . first.ts code is that: let myName: string = 'John Doe'; I can see this variable when I write in second.ts. (Also I can use this variable.
To be honest not just variables, classes, functions, objects..). I created tsconfig.json file by writing the console tsc --init. (Before this there was no problem but this time, when the output js file and the source ts file are open at the same, I had error, anyway). The problem started when I created the tsconfig.json file. I did not use any import/export statement.

No matter the location of my ts codes I am facing this issue in any case.I use VS Code.Is this normal?(if I use a variable(function,object..) from another tscode mistakenly, then the output js code gives an error obviously like

Cannot find name 'a' 

All my typescript codes are like a whole file or they are like a continuation of each other. But I do not want this as long as I do not use import/export statement.


Solution

  • If your file doesn't have import and export, it may be considered a "global" file, and all "global" files share the same global context.

    Add

    export {}
    

    then the file will be considered a "ES module" and won't import/export unneeded context
