Upgrading to Spring Boot 3.2 with Spring Security 6.2.0: Name for argument of type [java.lang.String] not specified

This question is very similar to the recent question, also for Spring Boot 3.2: Error "Name for argument of type [java.util.UUID] not specified, and parameter name information not found in class file either"with spring 3.2 upgrade

However, I decided to ask a new question because the situation seems slightly different and none of the proposed solutions are working for me. In my case, Spring Security is in play, and I'm not sure if that matters (EDIT: It doesn't). I also wanted to add additional details about what I have tried. If moderators deem this a duplicate question, my apologies.

what I have done:

I have followed the directions on https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-framework/wiki/Upgrading-to-Spring-Framework-6.x#parameter-name-retention:
- I'm using Gradle (Groovy DSL) so I have added:

tasks.withType(JavaCompile).configureEach {
    options.compilerArgs.add("-parameters")
}

I'm using using IDEA so I have also done this:

In IntelliJ IDEA, open Settings and add -parameters to the following field.

    Build, Execution, Deployment → Compiler → Java Compiler → Additional command line parameters

I get the error both from invoking tests from the command line (./gradlew check) as well as running the tests from IDEA.
I have removed all build directories and rebuilt everything.
I'm using JDK 17.
I have also tried upgrading to jakarta.servlet:jakarta.servlet-api:6.1.0-M1 to no effect.

UPDATE:

I've accepted @xda's answer because that's probably the best approach to take as adding compiler parameters are more of a work-around. But in my case, I have subprojects where some of them are using the Groovy plugin rather than the Java plugin and for those subprojects I discovered this is also helpful:

Also related, make sure compiler parameter configuration gets executed after subproject compiler plugins get applied. In my case, I was trying to set compiler parameters globally across all subprojects in the top-level build.gradle file using a subprojects {} section, but I wasn't doing it correctly because subprojects were applying different plugins in their own build.gradle files. The cart was getting put before the horse.

Solution

For me, see Upgrading-to-Spring-Framework-6.x, parameter-name-retention, this means that Spring can't match the URL with a known controller.

One way of solving this problem is to be more precise and indicate the name of the variable to be used via the @PathVariable, @RequestParam, etc. annotations.

To give an example,

public Bar do(@PathVariable(required = true) Long id, ...
public ModelAndView go(@RequestParam String foo) {...

becomes

public Bar do(@PathVariable(name="id", required = true) Long id, ...
public ModelAndView go(@RequestParam(name="foo") String foo) {...

You can use either the name parameter or the value parameter, it's all the same.
