Copy a singly linked list with Frama-C


I am trying to verify the above with Frama-C. From the manuals, it seems like Frama-C isn't well suited for malloc, and function pointers. I was wondering if I am missing something in my verification conditions, or Frama-C isn't well suited to handle lists? The output is for Alt-Ergo solver.

Solution

  • Handling linked lists with Frama-C and WP is like, super hard. Furthermore, currently WP does not handle dynamic allocation (this is a known limitation that is listed in the WP manual).

    Here, the Failure is due to your inductive definition samelist: the first case does not use samelist, which leads to a typing error in Why3. WP should say this, so I'd suggest creating an issue on the public GitLab of Frama-C.

    Furthermore, your definition of length does not give the memory footprint on which it depends, it should be done using the reads clause.
