Cannot access chat editor in Google AI Studio; buttons are blocked

Problem Description: I am experiencing an access issue with my Google AI Studio account. I cannot access the chat editor feature or my project history. The buttons for these functionalities are inactive and cannot be clicked.

What I have tried: I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with no success:

I cleared my browser's cache and cookies.

I used an incognito window.

I tried a completely different browser (Firefox/Edge).

I checked the Google Cloud status page, and the "Vertex AI" and "Gemini API" services in my region (São Paulo) are listed as available and operational.

I have logged out and logged back into my account.

My question is: Is there any known permission restriction or issue in Google AI Studio that might be causing this specific access problem, even if the services are shown as available? What other steps can I take to resolve this?enter image description here

I am unable to access the chat editor in Google AI Studio. The "Chat" and "History" buttons on my account's dashboard appear to be blocked or are inactive. This prevents me from creating new projects or accessing my existing ones, including the "Empathetic Writer" project.

The issue does not seem to be related to a browser or a service outage, as I have already performed the following troubleshooting steps without success:

I cleared my browser's cache and cookies.

I tried using a different browser and an incognito window.

I checked the official Google Cloud status page, and the "Vertex AI" and "Gemini API" services are showing as available and operational in my region.

The problem seems to be specific to my account, as the user interface is not functioning correctly.

Solution

  • Try to check your IAM roles, you might not have the correct IAM roles(viewer only) that will make those buttons active. Project and region can also cause this, if possible try to set the region to us-central1 (this is the default supported region for Studio). Some regions are not yet supported/rolled out to some features.

Google AI Studio runs via Google Cloud behind, if you don’t have the right permissions, you can’t fully use the associated tools with it.

It can also be the Billing account, your billing account might not be linked to the project you are working on, try to double check it.</body></html>
