Suspending USB using XHSETT

I had installed XHSETT in my laptop and suspended my USB, so usb stopped working, and then I forgot I did that.

XHSETT - https://www.usb.org/document-library/xhsett

Later When I tried to use the USB and it wasn't working, so I thought USB drivers were gone or there was some issues. So I reset the Windows 10 from the setting to remove all files.

But the USB still didn't work. I also had my USB hardware changed from the repair shop.

Now my question is does the effect of XHSETT still in progress even after resetting the Windows to fresh using remove all files?

Solution

  • If you observe the effects of XHSETT (or other tools like USB3CV) after rebooting the system, then most likely the application failed to switch back to the normal USB stack. My solution to the problem is to open Device Manager, navigate to USB Compliance (Host/Device) Controllers and uninstall the xHCI Compliance Test Host Controller (all of them if there is more than one). After doing so, just press Scan for hardware changes button and standard USB drivers will install.
